摘要

Parametric conversion and amplification based on three-wave mixing arepowerful primitives for efficient quantum operations. For superconductingqubits, such operations can be realized with a quadrupole Josephson junctionelement, the Josephson Ring Modulator (JRM), which behaves as a loss-lessthree-wave mixer. However, combining multiple quadrupole elements is adifficult task so it would be advantageous to have a pure three-wave dipoleelement that could be tessellated for increased power handling and/orinformation throughput. Here, we present a dipole circuit element withthird-order nonlinearity, which implements three-wave mixing. Experimentalresults for a non-degenerate amplifier based on the proposed pure third-ordernonlinearity are reported.
